Our Story
Shauna Fontaine, Anishinaabeikwe, owner and designer behind Anishinaabe Girl Designs, is a proud urban member of Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba. As a youth, her late mother gifted her with a small amount of seed beads which turned into a lifelong love affair with creating, experimenting and seeking knowledge in techniques, accessing traditional knowledge and teaching others through workshops.
Anishinaabe Girl Designs is most known for jewellery designs with particular attention to earrings. With a unique blend of urban boujee chic and inspiration from the natural world, she infuses her art with passion and a deep desire to reconnect with her culture, identity and spirit; and this commitment shines through in every piece she creates.
She finds support and empowerment from her community through the love shown for her artistic expression. She is dedicated to ensuring cultural continuity, mentoring others, and supporting the growth of Indigenous handmade artists and entrepreneurship.
